Guy Sebastian Concert Experience!

Hello again everyone, On the 21st of September I was lucky enough to see Guy Sebastian at The Star Casino on the Gold Coast. I left home at 6pm with Liis, who was accompanying me, and arrived at The Star at approximately 6:30pm. Although, it then took us half an hour to find a carpark; after five laps, we finally found one! Then another hurdle popped up, we had to work out how to get inside, because the level we had ended up on (the fifth level for reference) didn't have a lift allowing us to enter the building. We had to swerve between traffic to get back to level three, and once there we were able to ask someone for directions. We ended up having to ask two different people, but we eventually made it inside. Upon collection of our tickets, we were guided by security guards the rest of the way (phew) . We got to our seats and settled in. Guy's supporting act, Vince Harder, performed for half an hour (from 8pm - 8:30pm) and then Guy finally took the stage at 9pm and pe

Preparation for my 2019 Sydney trip

The idea of travelling to Sydney on holiday first came up as an idea, back in 2015 while I was on holiday in Toowoomba with Angela and Tegan. We began looking at the costs that would be associated with two different options. Option one was to fly to Sydney and then hire a disabled accessible car. Option two was to drive to Sydney. (Which, in the end was the better option). However, many things had changed in the time between inital discussion and actually getting everything organised.  I then had to make the decision of who would accompany me to Sydney. (The staff that were originally going to be coming with me, unfortunately no longer work with me). Originally I believed it would be Julia and Angela, but Angela was not able to accompany me, due to having been travelling around the world for a few months! So the two people I had with me on my trip were Julia and Karen (as stated in my main Sydney blog post). Tegan sat down and mapped out all of our travel on google maps and we s

I finally got to Sydney! (Details of my trip)

Hello everybody! I am so happy to be FINALLY writing this post. I have been waiting four long years to make this trip to Sydney, and I finally did it! On Friday the 6th of September 2019, myself and two of my carers (Karen and Julia), started our journey to Newcastle (Stop one of my holiday) at 6am in the morning. We stopped a brief rest in Coffs Harbour, approximately four hours from home, and then continued on our way to Newcastle. We arrived in Newcastle somewhere between 2:30pm and 3:00pm (i'm not entirely sure what the actual time was). We checked in at the Ibis Newcastle, and made our way to our room. Once opening the door we realised that there was only one room for all three of us to sleep in. We then checked out the disabled amenities, which was hilariously bigger than the room we would be sleeping in. Which isn't a bad thing, just something funny to note. We found our way to a little Italian restaurant where we had dinner. I had some delicious Spaghetti Bolognes

Aspects of Living with a Disability - PART ONE - Toileting & Personal Care

In this post i'm going to be talking about the things that impact disabled people when travelling, rather than travel itself. Part two will be posted as a separate blog post, as it will discuss another topic that can affect people with disabilities while travelling, and this topic is carers. This post will cover the topics of facilities and accessibility. Accessibility, for me personally, is probably the second biggest thing I consider when organising and going on a holiday. An able-bodied person may ask, why does this need to be considered? The answer, plain and simple, is because the smallest things, can majorly impact the quality of a holiday, for someone in a wheelchair. Toilets & Personal Care When you have a physical disability, you become accustomed to the idea that there is little personal privacy when it comes to personal care. But it may be confronting for the person having to assist you with this task, especially if it's the first time they are doing it w

Carrara Cat Carnival/Gold Coast Pet & Animal Expo/61st TV WEEK Logies The Star Gold Coast

This travel adventure happened on Sunday the 30th of June our day started at around about 11am we headed to the Carrara Cat Carnival which was located in the place they have the Carrara Markets. I was lucky enough to cross-paths with a good friend named Robert Dollwet aka "CATMANTOO" as his referred to on most of his social media profiles other names you may find him under is Malibu dog trainer, On this occasional i was lucky enough to meet 3 of his 4 cats, 2 which i have met previously there names are Didga and Boomer and i was lucky enough to meet Catmantoo newest recruit called Bindi. One of my favourties parts of this day was the fact that Bindi did not want to get off my tray thats attached to my wheelchair.  After doing this Karen and i made our way around the inside of the Carrara Cat Carnival we miraculously made our way around the carnival without spending any money. After finishing up at the carnival we made our way to the Gold Coast Pet & Animal Expo for a sho

The Crossing Sunday the 23rd of June 2019

This travel adventure started somewhere between 1:30/3pm. I went to this event mainly to support my disabled friend who has down syndrome and he has been dancing for a few years now because his mother used to work with me as a carer, her name is Leanne. We were lucky enough to arrive at HOTA "Home of the arts" at 2:55PM on Sunday the 23rd of June which his performance to start in around about 5 minutes from this time.  We had to high tail it to the box office to get the tickets and then had to proceed to the theatre of which they were holding the performance in. We were located in theatre number 2 for the time being i will skip forward a little bit as i am waiting on details to come though from the carer who was with me on the day her name was Karen. At the beginning of the performance there was a short video called the battle which is the name of the previous dance performance that Kayah Guenther had done. After this was when the Crossing begins i confirmed from his mother L

Two Styx May 2019

Image
This holiday will be happening in the middle of May from the 17th to the 19th. So as to how many details I will have for you after my trip to Two Styx I am uncertain at this point in time, I can tell you that Julia will be going as my carer and it is a Adventure holiday. As promised i will now elaborate and update you on what went down on my weekend away. So we leave Tweed Heads on the 17th of May and stopped at 2 places on the way before reaching Two Styx.  One was a Cafe called Oliver's which was at Maclean NSW and the other was a place called Fusspots which was located in Ebor 20 minutes away from our destination of which we were staying. I did get some photos but the best photos and footage of this place were taken by my carer named Julia.  I am uncertain at this point in time of where you can find these photos i will personally look on Facebook and update this accordingly. Once we had arrived at our destination there were 2 fireplaces in this accommodation it definitely was di
