Blue Roo's Laughing Out Loud Friday the 13th & 14th June 2025

Laughing Out Loud was a bit of a different experience for me because there were no script involved.

So basically, the show was made up of different acts involving a lot of improvisations. Overall, the show went for about an hour in length but getting to that polished hour of improvisations was a task to behold. It was a challenging because to me, the cast was a geat group of individuals - which I will give a shout out to later- but it seems to me that we had different levels of improvisation experience. So for some of the cast, it took a longer amount of time to perfect a scene - which is not always a bad thing, especially when it comes to improvisations, as they are meant to be as spontaneous as possible. I certainly did it to the best of my ability but I wouldn't say my performance was flawless.

In this performance I think a shout out should go to Oliwia Suchocki for a very outstanding and memorable performance across the whole weekend! Through my eyes she probably deserved a standing inovation because every body in the audience, including the cast, couldn't keep a straight face when Oliwia was on stage in the spotlight.

But, the production also would not have been possible if it wasn't for the team of Laughing Out Loud - Clint Bolster (Co-Director & Mentor); Oriel Halpin (Co-director/mentored); Rachael King (Stage Manager); Teddy Waddingham (Lightng & Video Designer); Hannah Page (Sound Designer); Tom Coyle (Videographer); Deaf Connect (AUSLAN translator) and Blue Roo Theathre Co. Inc for providing audio description and producing the show. If it were not for all of these people, the production in itself probably would not have gone ahead.

I'd also like to acknowledge the other members of the cast and acknowledge how great the final show really was. So, the cast for those of you who were not there, are as follows:

Anthony Brynes, Me- Stephanie Collas, Brigid Coote, Cameron East, Ben Halpin, Oriel Halpin, Sarah Johnson, James Loakes, Milli Newell, Matt Southgate and Oliwia Suchocki.

In this performance I didn't have as big of a part to make way for my disabled co-starts to have a bit more of the spotlight. In doing this, the rehearsal days leading up to our time at QMC felt a bit more drawn out for me. But, by the time we reached QMC, it had bought itselft together swimmingly. I yet again thoroughly enjoyed my time at the venue. In saying this, I didn't stay up in Brisbane for the duration of the production like I did last year. So for me, there was a lot of travelling to be had and thank you to Sarah Johnson for being a good travel buddy. Although I will admit throughtout our travels to and from Blue Roo together, we don't really get a chance to chat. And before I depart, and this blog makes me look smart, I will place a few photos below of my time at the performances across the weekend!
